Southern Testing – Exhibiting at Keynetix Annual User Group Meeting 2015

Southern Testing will be attending and exhibiting at this year’s Keynetix Annual User Group Meeting in Oxford on Tuesday 24th November 2015.

This year’s theme is Enabling Collaboration. The full agenda has now been released and with so much to see, learn and experience; you don’t want to miss this event!

Southern Testing undertake all aspects of site investigation; from initial feasibility/pre-purchase assessment, to detailed ground investigation, in-situ testing, post field work monitoring and sampling, laboratory testing, contaminated land risk assessment, geotechnical and geoenvironmental analysis, design and reporting.

We are continuously looking at ways to improve our methods of geotechnical and geoenvironmental data capture, data management and reporting, through use of commercial and in-house developed software systems, and so allowing us to provide our Clients with AGS data, if requested, at any stage of the project. One of our key aims is to ensure the capture of essential data at source and eliminate the need for double entry, so saving time, costs, improving efficiency and reducing the risk of data error.

We currently use ruggedised Panasonic ToughPads to collect data as part of in-situ CBR, dynamic probing, plate bearing and soakage testing in the field and have purchased KeyLogBook in 2014. This enables drilling data to be captured directly onto the Motion CL910 ruggedised tablet by our in-house drilling crews, allowing rapid transmission back to our Engineers, as wells as integration with our sample store and laboratory systems.

Southern Testing worked very closely with Keynetix Ltd as a beta testing partner during development of their KeyLAB 2 software. We purchased a pre-release copy in 2011 and have since fully implemented the software within our in-house laboratories and sample store. The system is very flexible and has allowed us to integrate with our existing customised laboratory reports, streamline workflow and ensures laboratory efficiency from sample and storeroom management, electronic scheduling to testing and reporting.

Our Engineers use HoleBASE SI to manage geotechnical and geoenvironmental data throughout a project, as well as to produce engineering logs, field test reports and plots, site sections and location plans. The Microsoft Excel HoleBASE SI Reporting Extension also allows us to rapidly analysis and report data.

With over 50,000 investigations completed over the last 48 years, we have amassed a extensive technical archive and in-house knowledge relating to the geological engineering, geotechnical and geoenvironmental characteristics of land throughout the UK. Such a wealth of data is instrumental in developing the initial ground model and tackling the opportunities and problems that new projects may present. We have integrated our in-house databases with HoleBASE SI providing access to this historical information in graphical mapping environment, alongside our current project, and other freely available online GIS data sources.

Southern Testing are looking forward to exhibiting at the Keynetix User Group Meeting. We’ve visited the conference before but this year decided it’s about time we had our own stand. We look forward to seeing you there and would be very happy to discuss your geotechnical and geoenvironmental data requirements and see how we can help you.
