Concrete and Materials Testing Services
Our in-house laboratories are equipped to provide an extensive range of concrete testing and related materials testing services which meet the appropriate British and European Standards. Typical testing includes compressive strength of concrete cubes and cores, as well as bricks and blocks. Other testing includes mortar mix proportions and other related chemical tests.
We have recently seen an increase in requests for Compressive Strength testing of 100mm Concrete Cubes. It has been found that 100mm Cubes appear to give a more consistent and representative result when using ‘20mm down’ aggregates. Our clients usually ask that we carry out the Compressive Strength testing on the Concrete Cubes at seven and twenty eight days in order to obtain a ‘C’ Value, but also to give an indication as to whether the Concrete is likely to reach its target strength. On request we can also supply our clients with results earlier than seven days in order to give an indication on when they can ‘strike’ shuttering. We measure Compressive Strength of Concrete Cubes to BS EN 12390-3:2009 and the density (after curing in temperature controlled tanks) to BS EN 12390-1:2012.
We provide an on-site service to facilitate the sampling and making of concrete test cubes as well as a collection service. All cubes are appropriately cured in readiness for testing at our laboratory.
Please contact our laboratory manager to discuss your testing requirements.
