Traditional & Borehole Soakaways
Southern Testing have considerable experience with the drilling, testing and installation of borehole soakaways.
Suitable Areas
Suitable where there are permeable strata at depth e.g: Clay with flints over Chalk (parts of Kent, Sussex, Hants, Berks, Bucks, Herts, Beds, Cambs) .
Test Boreholes
A test borehole and a soakage test (preferably a constant head test) are required to determine if adequate soakage is available. The Environment Agency should be consulted to determine any restrictions, (e.g. borehole depth, interceptors, etc.)
Design
Storage volumes can be calculated for a 10-year storm (allowing an appropriate Factor of Safety).
