Detailed intrusive investigations are often required in order to establish ground properties and contamination characteristics (soil, groundwater and land gas) of the site.
| When dealing with land affected by contamination investigations are carried out based on the technical framework for applying a risk management process as detailed in CLR 11 (Model Procedures for the Management of Land Contamination). A preliminary conceptual model and risk assessment is prepared as part of the contaminative uses desk study and allows for design of the site investigation. |  |
