Southern Testing was originally formed in 1967 as a geotechnical laboratory and site investigation company.
Today, from our headquarters in East Grinstead, West Sussex, we provide a comprehensive range of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Site Investigation and Consultancy Services throughout the UK for all sectors of the construction industry, and including developers, consulting engineers, contractors and local authorities.
We opened our first regional office as ST Consult in Northampton in 2006 and are now delighted to add two more, based in Swindon and Warrington.
Our routine work covers Initial Desk Studies, Pre-purchase Site Assessments, all aspects of Ground Investigation, (boreholes, trial pits, in-situ soakage, probing, CBR, PBT tests, etc.) with Laboratory Testing and Reporting, including the Identification & Remediation of Contaminated Land.
Our professional and technical staffs work in dedicated multi-disciplined teams, each supervised by a Principal Engineer (Chartered Engineer, Geologist or Environmental Scientist). All are trained in the latest field techniques, and in logging, monitoring, sampling and recording in accordance with BS5930 and BS EN 10175.
Experience and Knowledge - We have carried out over 22,000 separate investigations over the last 45 years, and our experienced engineers are able to draw on an extensive database of information to determine the best and most suitable methods to produce effective solutions.
Proven Competence - We have received national recognition and won awards for our site investigation design and project management of innovative and sustainable remediation schemes at the Brownfield Briefing Innovation Awards in 2006 and 2008.
Innovation and Resources – We have our own experienced site staff, specialist investigation plant and equipment, which allows our Engineers to design, effectively manage and tailor each project to our clients needs, and react rapidly to any changing conditions. This flexibility helps to ensure that any risks are effectively and promptly managed and thus minimised.
Reduced Risk – By using our own engineers, technical field staff and equipment, we are able to provide clients with a fully tailored and integrated service. This means that we are able to react rapidly and effectively to any unexpected site conditions, and so ensure that risk is minimised.
Best Practice – We are registered with BSI to the ISO 9001, 14001 and OHAS 18001 Standards and are also CHAS and SMAS Worksafe Contractor and Consultant accredited. This helps us to ensure that we continually review all procedures, work to the highest professional and ethical standards and meet the demands of any new legislation.
Personal Service – We will appoint an experienced engineer as a dedicated Project Manager for every project, to ensure effective communication with each of our clients and to monitor and report on progress.
